For Reels-ies: The Incredibles

It’s been 14 years in the making, but later this month we’ll see the sequel to the magnificent Pixar beast ‘The Incredibles’ make it to our cinemas. I cannot overstate how excited I am to see this film.

In 2004, my tiny baby 12-year-old self saw the Pixar film to change the game for what I would expect for all superhero films moving forwards. ‘The Incredibles’ was a superhero film for kids, specifically for kids rather than just family friendly, but also had the decency to have some pretty overarching and complex themes. The characters all felt relatable, and to this day I’ll forever be disappointed that the outlawed heroes in ‘Civil War’ were not living lives more like those in ‘The Incredibles’.

As such ‘The Incredibles 2’ has a big name to live up to, and based on the trailer it looks like it’ll have a chance. Take a look at it below, and the synopsis:

In “Incredibles 2,” Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose superpowers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.

If there’s one thing we can count on, it’s that Edna Mode is going to be as glorious in this as she was in the original. So given the film is easily a 4/5 make sure to have a rewatch before seeing the new one.
