Balmain is a French luxury fashion house that was founded in 1946 by Pierre Balmain. If you don’t know the brand by now then it’s likely you don’t follow fashion at all.
Balmain is essentially as French couture as you can get without being Chanel, and if you haven’t heard of them then chances are you’ll still have heard of their previous designers. Oscar de la Renta himself led the house between 1993 and 2002.
Their latest collection is out as above, and within 5 seconds I was into it. Stripes, when executed correctly, are truly a look and I expect we’ll be seeing them coming up everywhere this year. While there appear to be less classic silhouettes than you’d see in vintage Balmain, almost all of the pieces still manage to have a classic feel to them.
If you’re looking to invest in a piece then expect a hefty price tag, and don’t waste your cash on one of the more understated items they’ve produced here. Go big or go home, and if you’re a fella then given that you’ll finally have a little vareity this would be my brand recommendation for you.
